Grant Ritchie

Landscape Photographer

About

Grant Ritchie started Real Edinburgh as a little side project a few years ago. Bored of the usual landscape photography, he set out in the winter of 2010 on a street photography project in the city centre, hence the name, Real Edinburgh.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a time, from a hobbyist photographer to semi-professional in a short time. An incredible sunset shot over Edinburgh’s Calton Hill shared on Facebook brought 12,500 likes and his followers jumped by 6,000 in one day. Shooting with Nikon pro-sumer kit to moving up to professional kit has also been interesting.

Grant keeps his photographic likes as varied as possible. Landscapes of the city are far and away his biggest passion, including flying quadcopters to get aerial footage, but he also likes to dabble in astrophotography and macro photography.

Grant’s work has been published in lots of national and local publications, from the Evening News, Scotsman and Sunday Times to STV, Sky and the world renowned BBC. Having the lead press image for the last 2 years for the Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations and the lead image being used by Visit Scotland for Homecoming 2014 have been sources of great pride for Grant.
