Thunderbolt-Enabled Drobo Storage To Be Shown in Intel Booth at COMPUTEX TAIPEI

Drobo adding support for both Apple and Windows computers in future Drobo storage arrays

SAN JOSE, CA – June 5, 2012Drobo, makers of award-winning data storage products for businesses and professionals, will be demonstrating future Drobo personal storage systems that are Thunderbolt-enabled in the Intel booth at COMPUTEX TAIPEI. The company also confirmed that it will be adding native Thunderbolt support for both Apple and Windows computers in future Drobo storage arrays.

“Our customers have been very clear to us about their desire for Drobos with Thunderbolt support,” said Tom Buiocchi, CEO at Drobo. “They want and expect the best storage experience ever, and we intend to keep delivering it to them.”

With Drobo Thunderbolt connectivity, data to and from the device will run up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 connectivity and up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800. In addition to Thunderbolt, Drobo will make significant increases in processing power and add support for solid state drives (SSDs) to ensure top performance. Further enhancements to form factor, power management, and cooling technology result in an overall design that is not only significantly faster, but also more compact, greener, and quieter than ever before.

“Thunderbolt technology represents a leap in performance and simplicity for media creators and entertainment enthusiasts,” says Jason Ziller, Intel’s director of Thunderbolt marketing. “Drobo’s innovative storage solutions are sure to meet and exceed the storage needs of these customers.”
