DroboApps for the Drobo FS series of products

The Drobo FS series support DroboApps: community-created and community-supported applications that can be run on the Linux-based operating system embedded in the Drobo FS series.

For example, one of the most popular uses of the Drobo FS series is as a home media server.

Some of the most user-requested DroboApps are listed below. Please note that they are provided purely for your convenience and amusement; Drobo does not provide direct technical support, but you can consult the Drobo community by visiting Drobo Forums.   Apache is a secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards.

  The DroboApps Admin Utility makes installing, configuring, updating, and uninstalling DroboApps even easier. It can temporarily disable a DroboApp to keep it from starting automatically.

• FUPPES

  

  FUPPES is a free, multiplatform UPnP A/V Media Server with DLNA support. Install Fuppes, then use the XBMC client on your Mac, PC, AppleTV, Linux, Android devices, iPad or iPhone OR any other compliant hardware or software client to watch movies, listen to music, and more.

  Fuppes supports many forms of media, including MP3 audio, various still image formats, and AVI / DivX / MP4 and other video formats.

• Firefly

  

  Firefly serves digital music residing on the Drobo FS to the Roku Soundbridge and iTunes.

  Install Firefly, then use your any Roku-compliant or iTunes-capable device (Mac, PC, AppleTV, iPad, iPhone, etc.) to listen to songs or watch videos.

  Firefly supports MP3 audio, various still image formats, and videos in MV4 or MP4 format (just rename .mp4 files to .mv4, no transcoding needed).

Developers

DroboApps are created using the official Drobo Software Development Kit (SDK), which is available for download exclusively from Drobo Forums. It provides the tools and documentation necessary to create your own DroboApp. If you would like to develop a new DroboApp, update or improve an existing one, or find out how you can get involved, start by visiting Drobo Forums, where you can register to find out more about using the SDK.

Registering for Drobo Forums is free and anyone who owns a Drobo can join. Drobo Forums also provides message boards where you can interact with other developers as well as Drobo engineers. It's a place to upload and download the latest DroboApp builds and experience other community features.
