Drobo

The World's First Storage Robot

Keeps your data safe. Automatically monitors and repairs problems that could put data at risk. Automatically controls all aspects of storage management. No configuration or management consoles. Drobo does all the work, handling any complex storage management. Is a better solution than external drives and beats RAID hands down.

Drobo is the first desktop storage array that is 100% compatible with the Time Machine in the Mac OS X Leopard operating system from Apple Inc. Time Machine automatically backs up a user's data, and it requires an external storage device, such as Drobo, in order to function.

How it works

Once the Mac is connected to Drobo, backups are transparent to an end user who is using Time Machine. Designed to automatically backup files, Time Machine keeps a continual chain of backups over time, allowing users to easily recover individual files or an entire crashed drive.

The longer Time Machine is used, the more data storage it requires. The advantage of Drobo is that it is infinitely expandable and provides RAID-like reliability. Unlike other storage arrays, however, Drobo uses patent pending software that is designed for non-technical users who demand reliability without the hassle of RAID.

Time Machine manages your backups so you don't have to, while Drobo manages your storage, so you don't have to.

NOTE: The 10.5.1 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac. This enhancement is required to use Drobo with Time Machine.
